Straka Meats
Plain, Wisconsin. Straka Meats was founded in 1948 by Pete Goodman, who passed on the business to his niece Eileen Straka and her husband James. At first, the plant was initially used for chicken processing and the buying and selling of eggs. James changed the plant to beef and pork processing in the 1960s. At this time, he added the large variety of hickory smoked sausages to the retail store. The business expanded in 1976 to keep up with customer demand. When James passed away his sons, Jim & John took over the business. Jim and John have since retired and John's son Andy is now the business owner. Straka Meats is a 3 generation small business, located in its original location in the heart of Plain. In April of 2023, Block 23 became a division of Straka Meats.
