Cheesy Smoked Turkey Chowder

Enjoy this great chowder as a dinner-starter, or meal-in-a-bowl with a garden salad and fresh bread.

Serves: 4-6

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Nueske Smoked Turkey, diced into cubes
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups potatoes, peeled and diced into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 3 cups chicken broth or stock
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper

Directions

  1. In large sauce pan, bring broth to boil
  2. Add potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, salt and pepper
  3. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for about 15 minutes
  4. Meanwhile, melt butter in separate sauce pan and stir in flour
  5. Gradually add milk, stirring continously
  6. Cook over low heat until slightly thickened
  7. Stir in cheese until just melted; add milk mixture to broth mixture
  8. Add smoked turkey
  9. Heat through and serve immediately
