Sweet and Sour Red Cabbage with Smoked Bacon

Total Time: 1 Hour 20 Minutes
Serves: 6-8

Ingredients

  • 8 slices Nueske Smoked Bacon, diced
  • 1 - 2 lb head red cabbage, shredded
  • 1 apple, diced
  • 4 Tbsp water
  • 4 Tbsp sugar
  • 8 Tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Fry bacon in heavy frying pan until crisp; add cabbage, apple and water
  2. Cover and steam slowly for 1 hour; stir often to prevent burning
  3. Add sugar, salt, pepper and vinegar
  4. Stir well
  5. Serve warm
