Sweet and Sour Red Cabbage with Smoked Bacon

Serves: 6-8
Ingredients
- 8 slices Nueske Smoked Bacon, diced
- 1 - 2 lb head red cabbage, shredded
- 1 apple, diced
- 4 Tbsp water
- 4 Tbsp sugar
- 8 Tbsp red wine vinegar
- 2 tsp salt
- pepper to taste
Directions
- Fry bacon in heavy frying pan until crisp; add cabbage, apple and water
- Cover and steam slowly for 1 hour; stir often to prevent burning
- Add sugar, salt, pepper and vinegar
- Stir well
- Serve warm
